Stronghold, what's it about?

I need to know; what is the whole idea behind Stronghold? What is the concept?
IMO Stronghold is about a castle/stronghold which faces a battle he can't win.

When I was in the bus going home from school I was daydreaming and saw images of knights fighting, but they couldn't win. Is that the idea behind Stronghold?

I hope I'll get an answer and for now; keep on riding...

I just came across an interview the band did in January 2006 that I had read a couple months before I signed up for the forum. In it Protector mentions that the most unusual country he had ever received mail from at the time was Iran, and goes on to say that he thought that listening to that kind of music was forbidden because of the religious dictatorship. I don't know if you understood my question, if not: why did you choose "Summoning" for the name of the band?
if anyone have any idea please tell. if Protector can tell me the answer it will be great.

Minas Morgul Cover (Original Painting?)

I recently found a jpeg in very low resolution of the entire painting from which the cover detail of Minas Morgul is taken. Does anyone know who painted this or where I can find a high resolution picture of this painting? Perhaps Protector remembers where it came from?

A little question about the choir effects

Hello there.

I have a folk metal project going, but sadly (or luckily, I don't know which), it's a one man's project.
The problem is that I'm having sveral choir passages, but I'm to lazy to hire someone to sing with me. And I've heard that either Silenius or Protector did all the vocal work on the choirs in z.B. Might and Glory and Land of the Dead themselves.

Could one of you please shed some light on how you made those choir passages sound...

The SICK and wonderful vocals of Silenius

Hello

I must say that You- Silenius, has one of the top five best vocals in all of the black metal world, in all of history.
I especially like the ones performed on "Apokalypse" and "Opus IV".
I am just dying to know what they sound like un-mixed.
It would be a great honour if you could post an audio clip with a short recording so that I could hear just how strange they really sound in real life without FX.

Keep it raw, you guys rule.

Mixing your samples

I've noticed when you guys add samples into your songs they're often not in affiliation to the lyrics of the song in any way. For example, on "Farewell," which I believe is taken from one of Moorcock's writings, you used the a sample from the Witch-king's speech, even though the song had nothing really to do with Middle-Earth nor Lord of the Rings in general.

And secondly, "A Distance Flame Before the Sun" lyrics are taken from a Tolkien poem,...

Mixing and mastering vocals

I know I can ask on some other forum about mixing and mastering but I'm looking for your approach.

Other than the unique timbre of your voices, your vocals are set apart from others by the way they sound somewhat distant and well refined (and have a lot of depth). I was wondering how you achieved that effect. reverb I assume but it's so touchy. My own vocals sound similar to Silenius' yet with more "grit." Other screamers often sound different live than when...

Hello Protector and Silenius.

I'm currently in a 2 man band, we are both novice musicians but are wanting to create a Black Metal band with use of keyboards.

1. Is any music theory used when writing songs? I know nothing of theory, just memorizing string names. Any specific scales do any of you think would be particularly good to look into for creating a medieval sound or old sound?

2. What keyboards do you use? Any very cheap models that you know have good...
