Every forum has it's black metal post, but not many have a death metal one...
I thought i'd make one, see if u listen, what do u listen to and why ?
And please no responses like: "I listen to: a,b,c,d,e,f,y."
Now, my oppinion would be that in death metal there is a very thin line between good and downright awfull. Because of the growl or, I don't know, the lyrics which tend to get very stupid.
Take for example Cannibal Corpse. The guitars and drums are pretty good and his voice is good also, I mean u definitely need something to be able to growl like that for 2 hours, don't know if that something is talent, but it it is something!! But everything is ruined when I see the covers or hear the lyrics...
On the other side, one of my favorite bands is Vader. Fast and unpredictable riffs, great drumming and also very good voice.
Or Godgory! Resurrection has some of the greatest guitars I heard in all the metal genre!!
Hypocrisy, again, very good riffs, Demilich, although they only have 1 full lenght, very technical and like nothing I heard before (but again wtf is with the cover??)
Behemoth's last albums are very good, can't listen to Conquer All enough... Although the voice is a bit odd, is it doubled or something??
I also listen to a lot of Doom/Death metal bands, but maybe another day, another topic...
