Just curious since Summoning are related to Black Metal even though they are very different from most Black Metal bands. I listen to (I broke them down into sub-genres, I realize that the classification of bands has gotten ridiculously descriptive but this is just a means of organization to me to give an overview of the bands.) Early 90s Norwegian Black Metal: Gorgoroth Darkthrone Burzum Emperor Satyricon Immortal Les Legionaires Noire: Belketre Vlad tepes Mutiilation Brenoritzevorke Pagan/Viking Black: Falkenbach Windir Wyrd Vinterriket USBM: Xasthur Leviathan Winter of Apokalypse Twilight Krohm Lurker of Chalice ...and loads of other bands. Also what do you think of NSBM? I personally don't like it too much as I don't agree with the politics and don't think politics and Black Metal should be mixed.

I find people stupid, who never listen to burzum or other good bands, because they are so nazi.. this is just stupid society morality. It doesnt belong to metal, to forbid people who wear burzum shirts on a concert (which happens here nowadays) it pisses me off. Why is Burzum be called as such a big naziband? And not Darkthrone either? They had on the transilvanian hunger written big: Aryan Black Metal. People are not consequent in their thinking, they just follow what their friends think. There are good nsbm bands like graveland, absurd or wolfnacht, and I dont give a shi.t about it, if they are nazis or not. One should not forget that it was very true, to be nazi, when Black Metal started. Not really because they were real nazis, but because it was one of the most evil things to be. And black metal is about evilness, so they all tried to be as evil as it gets. This is where it derrives from. I think many people dont even know this.

Burzum and Darkthrone don't have lyrics about it though, even though I do know that Varg is somewhat of a Nazi. I like some NSBM like Nokturnal Mortum, Blutaar, Moontower, Ohtar and Graveland. What I meant to say was bands that use the NS "image" as a way to gain support (while playing mediocre music) are bands I don't like. :-/

Its just my oppinion about nsbm. Varg is called a nazi, because in the past he had some oppinions, that people dont understand. Even now he is called a nazi, but if someone ever took the time, to read his articles on burzum.org everyone can judge himself, if he is a nazi or not. He has his thoughts and believes, which are very smart in my oppinion and maybe he was a bit stupid in his younger days and had more a naziattitude, but what the hell has this to do with burzum. nothing. there is no single lyric about anything that is nazirelated. Burzum rules.

What is more most of the musicians didn't even bother to check out what exactly does the nazi ideology include. Thus such idiotic oxymorons as Ukrainean NSBM were born. And still I like some stuff by Nokturnal Mortum. NS was always more of an alternative to satan in BM, and always it was BM that came first (NS is more of a background). And even if I wanted to I could not possibly remember all the BM bands I have listened to so I wouldn't try.

I have read many of his articles on burzum.org and while he has some very interesting ideas (like his article stating that the One Ring is time) he is also blatantly racist, which I can understand but do not necessarily agree with. Yes, I was also saying that Burzum has no nazi lyrics. Let me try and clarify: I do not like bands that use "nazi image" as a means of promoting themselves and making themselves look more "true" to cover up their lack of musical skill.

("Black Fuc.king Metal" repeated a ridiculous amount of times one song.) I have never heard of Kanwulf before, but that sounds pretty crazy. Are any of you into Deathspell Omega? I find their lyrics rather interesting.

Skyforger from Latvia does a rreally good folk metal sound that started out as BM Loits from Estonia does a 'black and roll'type thing that i like,kind of like weltmacht or judas iscariot. Primordial from Ireland does celtic folk/doom/BM with very atypical gtr chords/tuneings.(no it's not that drop tune nu @#%$! Nocte obducta from germany,Nagelfar(i think also german)are also cool.

I just got a demo from a german band, Wurzelkraft, they are also quite good. It is funny that you brought up that you take NS as serious as satanism because I had realized through this thread that I don't really care for cliche satanic lyrics but I still like the music so I guess I shouldn't mind NS. On that note, Branikald and Raven Dark are some good NSBM bands from Russia.

As for other bands, I haven't been listening that much to metal last months (especially after I got/downloaded around 3 Gb of different music including dark ambient,power noise and industrial mostly),but I can't tell I listen to or am fond of some special bands - I enjoy different songs from this or that album. Music prevails for me and I don't care about nazi/satanic or nazisatanic ideology:I cared some years ago about all that satanic stuff,but it passed very soon after I understood some important (for me) things.I have some views and general outlook which may have something similar to this or that ideology, but generally I don't determine it as one of suggested above - those would play a role of limiting boarders. So again,music prevails for me, even if it based on plain ideology. This (or last?) year I found out about the band Primordial mentioned already which is one of my favs now.I enjoyed some Gorgoroth songs (although their image is somehow..ahh..anyways),1349, Judas Iscariot. I have some favs by Behemoth (although I completely can't stand the new material),there were some fine pieces by Cirith Gorgor I used to listen to many times.And noone here mentioned such bands as Taake or Negura Bunget or Noctes. and yep, never liked Darkthrone or Mayhem(old/new/whatever). Indeed difficult to remember everything at a moment and sitting and figuring out what I listened to during this not so long period is a bit weird and taking time $:\$ _________________________________________________________

Take a closer look at the lyrics to "My journey to the stars". (Which b.t.w. is a great song). However, this is not the main theme to his lyrics and not even commonplace, thus it's not "Nazi-music"/NSBM. You have to be able to separate the art from the artist. If you can't listen to artists you disagree with your gonna have a hard time listening to BM (or any music for that matter), there are alot of odd people putting forth great music. Anyway, here's a few BM records that i regularily play: Burzum - Filosofem Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger Mayhem - Live in Leipzig Shining - The Eriee Cold Satyricon - Nemesis Devina Visions, a tribute to Burzum Ofcourse i play others aswell, but these are the ones i keep returning to. There is nothing mention which is only a bit about some race beeing superior then another, so I dont agree with you on that. But you are right, if you dont agree with some artists, you barely can listen to bm.

And the "war between races" is about the gods - the Aesir battling the giants at ragnark. Lyrics aren't precise and can be interpreted in many diffrent ways. My point was that there's elements in the lyrics that can be interpreted as NS. However, if you didn't know about his beliefs you probably wouldn't make that connection at all. There are grey areas, that's what I wanted to get at. Odium Humanis Generis
