I posted some more songs but the board ate my videos, so I'll re-post later. Damned internets. |

More overlooked kvltness:
Funeral Winds (NED) - Old band (founded in '91!) that nobody seems to know about despite their influence on later acts like Tsjuder. Black metal the way it was meant to be played, IMO. |

Maeglin Black |
|||

Since yuku is being a douche rocket, I have to post these seperately.
Mystifier (BRA) - Another early black metal band, this time from South America. If you ever wanted to know what black metal played by black dudes sounds like, now you know. Fucking grim, as it turns out. Killer vox. |

Fuck all those weird little squares...that shit only happens when I embed videos on this one forum.
Svartsyn (SWE) - Why Marduk and Dark Funeral are the most high-profile Swedish black metal bands when Sorhin, The Black, and these guys exist within the same scene, I'll never know. Their album "...His Majesty" is a masterpiece.

I dig the new Svartsyn album, Mystifier is mega-cult and I remember listening to Funeral Winds a few years back... Never got into it though, felt
run-of-the-mill at the time.

I've only listened to Svartsyn out of those. Mega cult, E. hear that? You're now status enough to post with the douches from Anus.

Cryptic Winds (US) - Another Floridian black metal band, although unlike Kult ov Azazel or Black Witchery, they are decidedly more traditional. Broke up
in a rather legendary way after the bassist was arrested for kicking the shit out of a house sound technician mid-show (lol).
|
|||
Maeglin Black |

Countess (NED) - Another KVLT Dutch black metal band. Despite having like 20 albums, I never hear or read about Orlok & co. Black metal with a
healthy dose of traditional heavy metal, utterly classic.

Cryptic Winds is always good. Had that for a year or so. Gotta love ebay.
Setherial, Swedish Black Metal. Need I say more? Title track taken from their 1999 studio opus. Ragnarok. True Norwegian Black Metal. Definitely enough said. (Hoest from Taake on vo-kills for this album). Countess is good shit so far. THX!

You are most welcome, and get your hands on Setherial's first LP; Nord, if you haven't heard it yet. Completely destroys Hell Eternal, IMO.

I'm sure the crazy Australians in Destroyer 666 are familiar to most of you. Their second album, Unchain the Wolves, is, IMO, one of the greatest black
metal albums ever recorded, first or second wave. Literally every song is a classic, and the whole thing is just so fucking METAL. Later albums are excellent
in their own right, but they captured magic on Unchain the Wolves and have yet to best it. D666 is a "metal litmus test" band for me...if they
don't have you craving blood after a song or two, you're probably not very tr00, kvlt, or grim.

Fog (US) - Obscure black metal from New York. Brutal as hell, and they craft some awesome mid-paced riffs, as heard in this song. Cool guys in this
band, I wrote them several years ago when this album first came out, and struck up a correspondence with the drummer, who was cool enough to do a few
interviews for Lunar Hypnosis, an online 'zine I used to contribute to. Haha, it just occured to me I could actually see them live now that I'm in
Jersey.

Seth (FRA) - Between Celestia, LLN, and this band, France was crafting some amazing black metal in the 90's (a trend that continues with bands like
Antaeus and Deathspell Omega). Symphonic, melodic, and often beautiful without being neutered a la Dimmu Borgir. They enjoyed a brief period of popularity
when Fenriz hailed them in the "Goatlord" liner notes. They also totally suck now, but everyting up to and including "L'Excellence" is
golden.

I have 3 D666 albums. Very cool, all. They are listed as Thrash half of the time.
Some people on youtube disable the embed codes because when a vid is embedded and played, that person no longer gets their "view count". Sad, but true. I was part of a prominent social gaming site on ning. (Long story short) Ning deleted the entire site without warning because we embedded vids from youtube in an attempt to spread news and matches and info about the game. But because some dim-witted dipshits only cared about their "views" and not the actual fact that more people were now able to "view" their material, it got deleted whole sale when they complained to Ning. How two dimensional. But I'm not upset or jaded. Nope.....NOT ME!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Yes, I have Nord. \,,/ It's always a good listen. Since we're talking about France... Haemoth. Extreme Black Metal. These guys are right behind Yyrkoon and Tabitha Cash as far as France goes.
Taken from their newest album "Kontamination": and next we have a song taken from their previous album "Satanik Terrorism" <-----the name gets me going every time. One more....? I haven't time to view yours yet......but I will.

The guitar tone on the most recent Haemoth EP is insane, I love the production on that release. Agreed, very good band. I see the plague of the squares is

Tyrann's new album "Shandows of Leng" will be released(in the US) this coming week. Plus Samael see's a new release aswell.
In case a few of you mighty metal heads might have let this slip through your proverbial cracks...Tyrann is the other half of the now(and sadly) defunct Tsjuder, Anti-Christian and Draugluin. Here is their myspace where you can listen to samples(as well as last.fm): http://www.myspace.com/tyrannlegion
