The waiting is soon over. Please keep the "Stronghold" and "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" Theme and sounds in mind while working on the
new stuff.

Stronghold was my least favorite, I hope they go in direction Minas Morgul Lugburz and Oathbound with new elements.

stronghold was for sure our most controversial album. no other album has so many people who love it and also so many people who don't like it at all. for
me this album is just a bit more plain with fewer keyboard layers and like LMHSYF with more rhythmic guitars (thats probably why Pedersenthepagan probably
mentioned those two albums). if thats real the reason i have to disappoint you, the guitars on the new album will be also played opened, not in the staccato
way. apart from those elements i think its not really possible to let an album sound in a planned direction, music just appears spontaneous and also the
perception of people is different. some might see a wide snowy landscape when they listen to summoning, but for example my mother or my father just think about
some ugly demons in hell when they hear our music (not much snow there for sure;-)

Haha i see. At least they have heard it :P But i mean if you use like bright metal "clangs" and Glass. it might sound like ice, and like use windy
effects. it would create a magic wintery theme
Thought it was worth mentioning. Its cold here in norway u know, we need some cold epic music

btw silenius said a cool funny line connected to his music and parents. he was asked how is parents like the music and he answered:
"my parents do their best to pretend to like my music and i do my best to pretend to believe them" :-) |

Hehe well it cant be a easy thing to understand if you havent been raised around similar music, my mother heard me listening to Summoning when I was a wee lil
kid and imidiatley stated "theses persons didnt have a nice childhood"

Will there be clean-vocal choirs on the next album again? (like in Farewell, Might and Glory, and Land of the Dead)
I hope so

I hope it too. I really liked the choirs on land of the dead, they really bring me in another world...

I hope the new album follows in the vein of LHMSYF and Oath Bound in terms of epic mood and brilliant melodies. Long story short my favourite Summoning tracks
at this point are Farewell and Land of the Dead, which both combine the essence of Summoning as I see it.
I am somewhat demanding listener, but here's a quick wishlist: - Choirs (Protector you do amazing vocal work on DVKE, why not put this on full use in Summoning via multitracked one-man choirs?) - Samples (Since Stronghold I have really enjoyed the way you guys implement samples into the music, please continue) - Usage of female vocals again (Retrospectively Where Hope and Daylight Dies is one of the most memorable song made by Summoning, it would also add a fresh twist to the newer production style) - Few strong points from Minas Morgul era; Songs like Through the Forests of Dol Guldur, Dagor Bragollach, and The Passing of the Grey Company were bombastic and relatively fast. I really love long oasis parts where music slowly builds as if painting a scenery and then BLAM! All hell breaks loose in form of fast keyboard melody, guitar wall and blastbeat(ish) type of drumming. |

I can agree the choirs are definitely haunting and spooky, the samples add feelings of wonder too(orc horde chants on Oathbound are great) . I like female
vocals too but mostly only as back up instruments and not doing the lead vocals. some magic stuff like the first DVKE album would be inspirational.

intressting, my mother always inspired me into the more esoteric music. Classical pieces, swedish folkloristic musik and Jussi Björling is what I grew up to.

Fuck yeah, Jussi!
I bought a set with some Jussi Björling-performances yesterday, 109SEK for three CD's! |
